Italy is a wonderful place for any potential off plan investor, and a property in the country is something of many people’s dreams – though they often do stay as dreams for many, thanks to the high prices in most areas of the country. Having said that, there are still some bargains to be had, especially off the beaten track, and off plan buyers interested in the region should certainly give it a look over before opting for one of Italy’s cheaper neighbours. The economy is strong and the government encourages foreign investment, as it helps the country as a whole, making Italy a fantastic choice for off plan buyers. The capital, Rome, is a spectacularly interesting place to live. Prices of property, however, are suitably high for a city as incredibly popular as this, with low-end costs well over £100,000 in the area – and these are just the cheaper places. The closer to the centre and the higher the quality leads prices further and further up until they begin to stretch into very silly amounts. It isn’t mathematically impossible for an off plan investor to find themselves a bargain, it’s just thoroughly unlikely. The same story goes for most of Italy’s other major cities, with lower prices indicative of a lack of quality and massive investment required to get places up to standard. It isn’t all doom and gloom, mind, with prices in the poorer South lower than those in the North, as well as the likelihood of a bargain being stumbled on higher. The intrepid hunter will find something worth their time, and any off plan property buyer should be willing – if they can – to put more into Italy than they maybe would elsewhere, as it is a country worth anyone’s time. Italy is a beautiful country full of thousands of years worth of history, a modern, stylish culture and a people who simply need to be experienced – the economy is strong, and whilst it isn’t growing at an exponential rate, the safety of an off plan property investment in Italy is pretty secure, at least for the near future. Those that can afford it should certainly look at setting themselves up in this wonderful country.
